about

Introducing Brightsider, a new independent project from songwriter and producer Dan White (Blue Child Collective, Director of The WA Guitar Festival) driven by soul, RnB, groove and sunshine from the South Western tip of Australia.

Dense keys and dry drums, funky bass lines and soulful vocals; Brightsider slides into the pocket where Winston Surfshirt, Matt Corby and Free Nationals meet.

Out Feb 5, the debut single “The Best Things In Life Come Easy, Right?” is exactly that plus a good dose of upbeat fun.

“Sometimes you’ve got to remind yourself to stop and focus on the good things in life instead of all the things you’re trying to achieve, especially being an independent self-managed artist. It’s funny that often when you do step back things seem to have a chance to fall into place; this tune is a snapshot of that written on a surf trip which did more for my career than a whole lot of hours glued to my laptop.”

With a fresh track set for release the first Friday of every month through 2021 plus a string of shows later in the year, there will be plenty of opportunity to get familiar with the bright side.

lyrics

The best things in life come easy, right?
They say the best things in life come easy, right?

Now all of my years
Have seen the signs
Of working too hard
And trading all my time

For a reason
I have only just arrived at
And hand on my heart
It’s written in these lines

They say the best things in life come easy, right?
Gonna take my time to make it mine
Because all the best things in life come easy, right?

See it’s tough
Because I love what I do
I love it too much
I pour myself into

Every waking hour on my mind
When I really should ease up, yeah
And quit my daily grinding

Oh i wish i could

They say the best things in life come easy, right?
Gonna take my time to make it mine
Because all the best things in life come easy right now

They say the best things in life come easy, right?
Gonna take my time to make it mine
Because all the best things in life come easy right now

I challenge you to see it as a game
See we were born into the struggle
Taught about all the pain
You know it’s hard to see the worth in something easy

But i wish i could

They say the best things in life come easy, right?
Gonna take my time to make it mine
Because all the best things in life come easy right now

They say the best things in life come easy, right?
Gonna take my time to make it mine
Because all the best things in life come easy right now

See that going too hard has left scars
Hasn’t got me too far
So I’m changing my mindset
And trying to work less
To see more progress
But it’s a process
Slowly opening up to a better way

Cos life’s not made to be stressed out
And though I’ll never regret
The time and money I spent
I’m finding solace in the knowledge
That progress yeah is inevitable
If you keep your cup full
Progress is inevitable
If you keep your cup full
And you know, yeah

See the best things in life come easy, right?
Gonna take my time to make it mine
Because all the best things in life come easy right now

They say the best things in life come easy, right?
Gonna take my time to make it mine
Because all the best things in life come easy right now
